Why I Want to Go to College Writing Contest

The Omaha Storm Chasers and Nebraska State Treasurer Don Stenberg are sponsoring the 15th annual "Why I Want to Go to College" writing contest. Seventh and eighth grade students are encouraged to apply by Friday, March 17, 2017. 

Winners of the contest will receive NEST college savings account contributions, and will get tickets to the Storm Chasers game in Papillion on May 21. Three winners from each of Nebraska's three congressional districts and three winners from outside Nebraska will be awarded prizes. Each first place winner will receive $2000 plus 4 tickets, each second place winner will receive $1000 and 4 tickets, and each third place winner will receive $500 and 4 tickets.

Entries are limited to no more than 750 word essays and should be mailed to Becki Frishman, Omaha Storm Chasers, 12356 Ballpark Way, Papillion, NE 68046, or give to Mrs. Johanson at school. The application can be accessed here, or students can ask Mrs. Johanson at school for more information or for any help.
