National FFA Week at WP 2/21/22

Sandoval wins Creed Speaking Event

CONGRATULATIONS!!! to Mandy Sandoval. She placed 1st and received 1st Purple in Creed Speaking at NCTA in Curtis, Nebraska on February 3, 2021. Creed Speaking is a FFA Leadership Skills Speaking Event. Mandy is state-bound and she will compete in preliminary state rounds on Thursday, March 25th. Good Luck, Mandy!

FFA Greenhouse Selling Plants

The Wauneta-Palisade FFA Chapter will send two teams to Lincoln to the State Convention. Order FFA Jackets by October 14

Friday, October 14th, FFA Jackets will be ordered. Men's Jacket,Tie, and P&H = $70.00. Women's Jacket, Scarf, and P&H = $68.00. This a pre-pay program and a jacket will be ordered when the W-P FFA Chapter receives the check. W-P FFA Chapter will continue to order Jackets or accessories each week. Custom sizing is available at a slightly higher price. First FFA contest is November 9th.  

WP FFA Celebrates Greenhouse Progress

Rod Keiser of Hay Bale Banners, LLC has generously donated to the W-P FFA Chapter a hay bale banner to celebrate the on-going success of the W-P Greenhouse Fund. Our own Taylor Hiett, Rod's employee, designed the banner and Rod Keiser also supplied the solar light. Special thanks to Derek Sandman for donating the hay bale. On the north side of the Wauneta Attendance Center, the Hay Bale Banner will be all lit up for tonight's football game against Arapahoe. This is also the site of our greenhouse. . . .

FFA Students to EDGE on September 28

FFA students will be attending EDGE in Curtis at NCTA on September 28. The bus will be leaving the school in Wauneta at 6:00 am mt/7:00 am ct. They should be back to the school in Wauneta at approximately 3:00 mt/4:00 ct.

WP Chosen for Monsanto's Grow Rural Education Grant

Wauneta-Palisade FFA has  been chosen to receive an @AmericasFarmers Grow Rural Education grant this year. We couldn’t have done it without our amazing staff, students and the farmers who nominated us! #GrowRuralEd We’re making big plans for enhancements to our math and science programs, thanks to the @AmericasFarmers Grow Rural Education grant we’ll be receiving. 2016 FFA Banquet

The WP FFA Chapter held their annual banquet on Thursday, April 21. There was a tremendous turnout of about 120 people in attendance. Joe, Billy, and Logan grilled hotdogs and hamburgers for the meal, followed by numerous awards recognizing the great things that happened in the chapter this year. Next year's chapter officers were announced: President Greg Gaston, Vice President Regan Skow, Secretary Logan Fischer, Treasurer Angel Hinojosa, Reporter Jayden Ingold, Sentinel Seth Straub, and Officer at Large Michael Lovell. Greenhouse Grant Update

The Monsanto grant "Keep Rural Schools Growing" for $10,000 was completed and entered. Thank you to the 22 farmer nominations we received. Besides the grant writing, this is an important part of the grant process to show need. The results will be announced in August.  Thank you to Farm Credit Servies for the $2000 grant we received April 29. We applied for the FCS America "Working Here Fund" this winter, and just received notice of winning.  We were not so lucky in the other two grants we applied . . .

Grow our Greenhouse Fund progress

The Wauneta-Palisade FFA Grow Our Greenhouse Fund stands at $3150 from contributions, as of our annual banquet on April 21. Thank you very much! We are now only $1850 short of our goal of $5000. Once we reach that $5000 goal, we have an additional pledge of $2500. At that time, we can order the greenhouse!

FFA Banquet

The Wauneta-Palisade FFA Chapter is hoping their annual banquet on April 21 at the gym in Wauneta. The meal starts at 5:30pm MT, and is followed by awards and "A Look Through the Year" slideshow. The labor auction will follow at 7pm MT. All are invited to attend! Junior high members are encouraged to attend.  Freshmen and senior members should please bring a dessert, and sophomores and junior members should please bring a salad.

The Wauneta-Palisade FFA Chapter will be recognizing National FFA Week on February 22-26. The week's activities will include: Monday: Cleanest Vehicle Contest (Judging will be done in the parking lot.) Tuesday: Teacher Appreciation Day Wednesday: Dress up for your favorite ag career. (Must be school appropriate.) Thursday: 5th-6th grade poster juding: "What does FFA mean to you?" Friday: Buy an FFA stick for $1, place it on your hat, and you can wear your hat in school!

FFA State Degree Interviews

FFA State Degree Interviews that were scheduled for Wednesday, February 3 have been rescheduled for Thursday, February 4 in McCook. The following WP students will be interviewing for their state degree in McCook: Billy Straub, Dakota Borchard, Cameo Rector, Colby Cox, Ellie Lee, Joe Sramek, and Tryssta Duvel. They will check into 1st Period and leave at 8:00MT.  Missy Duvel will be driving them to McCook.  If all goes as scheduled, they should be back to Wauneta by lunch time.
