District Track Results

May 12, 2016

The WP High School track team competed well in the D9 District Meet at Cambridge on Wednesday, May 11. The Broncos had 19 PR's on the day, evidence of the great effort and performances. Greg Gaston won the boy's high jump with a jump of 6'3", and was second in the boy's triple jump (40'9.75") so qualified for the State Meet in both of those events. Cash Yearous earned second place in the 1600m run with a PR time of 4:55, joining Gaston as a state qualifier. On the girl's side, Bronco senior Colby Cox jumped 16'5.5" in the long jump, earning a silver medal and a spot at Burke High School next weekend. She's joined by Faith Simpson, who is the district champion in the discus (124'6"), high jump (5'2"), and 100m hurdles (16.6). Congrats to these Broncos and all of our track and field athletes who represented us well this season.

The Nebraska State Track and Field Championships is held at Omaha Burke High School next Friday and Saturday. Good luck, Broncos!

Results from yesterday's district meet are available here (girls) and here (boys).
