Yearous Wins 1600 at Don Stine Invite

WP Junior Cash Yearous was the winner of the 1600 meter run and the Don Stine Traveling 1600 Meter Champion plaque at the Don Stine Invitational Track Meet in Cambridge on Monday, April 10, 2017. Yearous ran a 5:01.53, edging out a McCook runner, TJ Renner, who marked a time of 5:01.57. Yearous is the back-to-back champion of this race and this honor at the Don Stine Invitational, also winning last season. Congratulations, Cash, and good luck throughout your track season!

The WP High School track team competed well in the D9 District Meet at Cambridge on Wednesday, May 11. The Broncos had 19 PR's on the day, evidence of the great effort and performances. Greg Gaston won the boy's high jump with a jump of 6'3", and was second in the boy's triple jump (40'9.75") so qualified for the State Meet in both of those events. Congrats to the WP Track team for competing well at the 2016 RPAC Track and Field meet in Arapahoe on Tuesday, May 3. The Broncos notched 15 PRs while running, jumping, and throwing against tough competition from the 14 member schools. WP's Faith Simpson brought home the Conference Champion gold medal in the girls discus, and notched second place in the 100H hurdles and the high jump. WP had a good day, with 13 PR's, and Greg Gaston earning 1st place in the high jump, and Faith Simpson grabbing 1st place in the 100 high hurdles, and first place in the discus. Faith's throws of 129' 6.5" is also a new school record. Good job, Broncos!
