Due to scheduled power outages in Wauneta, WP Schools in both Wauneta and Palisade will have early outs on Thursday October 20 and Friday October 28. Wauneta-Palisade Schools will be honoring all Military Veterans at our Homecoming on Friday, October 7 prior to the 6MT/7CT kickoff at the football field in Wauneta. We will be honored by your presence & ask that you line up on the sideline prior to the National Anthem. All Military Veterans will have free admittance into the game.

October 3-7 will be the dates for the 2016 Wauneta-Palisade Homecoming Festivities. This year, the WP StuCo has selected "Fabulous Fifties" as the theme. On Monday, we'll kick off the week by dressing in the theme: Fabulous Fifties. We'll also decorate for the week during 7th and 8th periods. Tuesday is Twin Day--twin to win! Midweek will be Wild West Wednesday, so come in your boots and spurs. There's no school on Thursday due to the scheduled power outage in Wauneta. . . .

The W-P juniors and seniors will be traveling to McCook High School on September 27 to attend a college fair. The bus will be leaving the school in Wauneta at 7:00 am mt/8:00 am ct. They should be back to the school in Wauneta at approximately 11:00 mt/12:00 ct.

Due to a planned power outage in Wauneta on Thursday, October 6, there will be NO SCHOOL for students on this day. Teachers will have a professional development day in Palisade. Because of this no school day, WP Schools WILL now have a regular school day on Monday, October 3.

The WP football team starts the season this Friday with a contest at Leyton High School in Dalton, Nebraska. The game kicks off at 2MT, so the football players are dismissed at 8:15 and leave at 8:30. Good luck, Broncos!!

The Wauneta-Palisade High School volleyball team opens their 2016 campaign on Thursday, September 1 at a triangular in Paxton. The girls are dismissed at 2:50, and the bus leaves at 3:00. Wauneta-Palisade students in grades 8, 10, and 12 will be taking the Nebraska Risk and Protective Factor Student Survey on September 14 during their regular Social Studies class. The NRPFSS is made up of multiple-choice questions. Topics covered include substance abuse, delinquent behavior, bullying, and risk and protective measures that predispose youth toward or protect them against problem behaviors (including substance abuse, delinquency, teen pregnancy, school dropout, and violence). Wauneta-Palisade Schools is hosting a Back to School Open House at the Palisade Attendance Center on Tuesday, August 16 from 6:30CT-8:00CT. A free meal of hotdogs, hamburgers, and watermelon will be served, and the PTO will be providing ice cream sundaes. Everyone is encouraged to attend the event, and K-4 students are encouraged to bring their school supplies and use this opportunity to meet their teachers and check out their classroom. Physicals for current 7-11th grade students will be offered on Thursday May 12th starting at 8:00 am mt at the Wauneta Attendance Center. Letters and forms are being sent home with students, any student that is planning on participating in any extracurricular activity must have a physical on file at the school. The WP Quiz Bowl team qualified for State on March 30 after we came out on top of a 3-way tie for 2nd place at the ESU #15 Quiz Bowl competiton in McCook. On Monday, March 14, the Wauneta-Palisade senior class participated in County Government Day at the Hitchcock County Courthouse in Trenton. The day, hosted by the American Legion with the help of the Hitchcock County Courthouse staff, gave the students a hands-on look at how their local government works. A video presentation to start the day was followed by a tour of the courthouse and its various offices. On March 16, Mrs. Monnahan and 16 Wauneta-Palisade students travelled to MPCC in North Platte for the annual Inter-High Day Scholastic competition. Students from multiple area schools participated in the event. WP junior Miranda Behrends earned 2nd place in division three for the Art competition, and was awarded a medal for her efforts. The NeSA testing schedule for WP 7-11th grades as been created. All testing will take place during periods 2-4 on the specified days below. 11th grade Testing will occur in the computer lab on the 2nd floor on April 13th, 19th and 28th. This November, the Palisade Veterans of Foreign War ( VFW) sponsored the WP High School students in the annual Voice of Democracy essay contest. Each Wauneta-Palisade High School student wrote an essay, recorded it on an audio CD, and submitted their work to the local VFW for judging. This year's topic was, "My Vision for America". WP Elementary students spooked downtown Palisade on Thursday, October 29 when they paraded in their Halloween costumes. Local businesses gave out candy, and students entertained patrons as they showed off everything from fairy tutus to witch hats to Husker football players.
