Sing Around Nebraska Festival Choirs

The Nebraska Choral Directors Association is pleased to announce the 2016 Sing Around Nebraska Festival Choirs, the 25th year of the event. Beautiful choral music will be sounding from sites all around the state throughout the months of January and February, 2016. Ten Wauneta-Palisade students were selected to participate in the festival. They include: Olivia Behrends, Cole Hamilton, Colby Hoskovec, Alexa Sandman, Katelynn Parrish-Yell, Chloe Stehno, Peyton Vrbas, Joshua Starnes, Jillian Martinez, and Diane Martinez.

Wauneta-Palisade students will perform at North Platte High School on January 30. The bus will leave Wauneta at 5:45MT/6:45CT. Rehearsal begins at 9 am CT and the concert is at 4 pm CT.

There are four main purposes for the Sing Around Nebraska Festival Choirs:

  • To provide students with an exciting and quality choral experience with other students from their festival area.
  • To provide an opportunity for honor music students who are ready for more challenging music to work with a guest clinician.
  • To provide music teachers an opportunity to observe and learn from the clinician working with the students, and to share with other teachers.
  • To sing quality children’s choral repertoire, and help districts build a music library of such music.
